Temperatures in upper Grand Canyon have also been somewhat warmer than in the past.
At the 60-Mile station, above the mouth of the Little Colorado River, in-stream summer temperatures are similar to 2003, but not quite as warm as 2000 during the Low Steady Summer Flows experiment, where discharge was maintained at 8,000 cfs throughout the summer months. Unlike 2000, however, significant warming commenced in September 2003 when flows decreased from Glen Canyon Dam, while in-stream warming continued, even while temperatures from the dam continued to rise until December.
